Defaulted loans placed with NCM

Who may be eligible?

Borrowers may be eligible to consolidate if a defaulted loan placed with NCM is one of the following:

Perkins Loan
Nursing Loan

Consolidation is a federal process. Review the new loan terms and understand how consolidation may affect repayment before submitting an application.

Other loan program information

These options are less commonly used by NCM borrowers. They are available below for reference, and eligibility depends on the loan type and individual circumstances.

Deferment
A deferment may temporarily pause required payments when a borrower meets a qualifying condition. Interest treatment and eligibility vary by loan type. Confirm the effect with your loan holder before applying.
Forbearance
Forbearance may temporarily pause or reduce payments. Interest generally continues to accrue, which can increase the total amount repaid.
Cancellation
Some loans may qualify for cancellation based on program-specific service or other qualifying conditions. Documentation requirements depend on the loan and program.
Total and Permanent Disability discharge
Eligible federal student loans may be discharged when a borrower meets the federal total and permanent disability requirements and supplies acceptable documentation.
